CutCaption

A browser-based subtitle editor for creating, reviewing, styling, and exporting captions for video.

CutCaption editor preview showing video, subtitle timing, and editing controls

CutCaption is being built to keep subtitle production in one focused workflow. It covers the parts of the job that usually get split across separate tools: caption text, timing, styling, preview, and export.

The product is for creators, editors, and small teams that need to prepare subtitles for video without rebuilding the same work in multiple places.

The main problem it solves is handoff friction. A subtitle project should stay editable, reviewable, and exportable from the same source of truth.

Key capabilities

Built around the subtitle workflow.

The focus is practical: fewer handoffs, clearer review, and exports that come from the project you actually edited.

AI timing & translation

Generate subtitles with word-level timing, and translate context-aware captions instantly using LLMs.

Fine-grained editing

Edit rich text captions in a list or on a timeline. Split, merge, add, delete, move, and snap with precision.

Flexible styling

Apply global styles, per-caption overrides, or word-by-word active styling for social video formats.

Export what you see

Browser preview rendering matches the export. Download .ass files or render burned-in video directly.
